Silverlight Technology powers the Golf Stats Program

ChartMyGolf is powered by the Silverlight technology. Silverlight is Microsoft's FREE web-based technology, similar to Flash or Java but with some fantastic added extras. It is cross-platform, working on PCs and even Macs as well as other devices.

One of the advantages of Silverlight is instead of saving your golf stats to our database or your local storage, you can save your data safely and securely to your own hard drive for your own protection. This means you can even transfer your save-file from your laptop to your home desktop easily using a cd-rewritable or even a usb flash-stick. (This means you will not be tied to just one machine as you would with a local-storage solution.)

Another advantage of a web-based program is you are always using the most up-to-date version of ChartMyGolf. When we upgrade you automatically get the new version the next time you log on.

If you do not have the latest release of Silverlight installed on your machine you will be prompted to download it for free when you enter the main program page. This install comes directly from Microsoft, only needs to be installed once and is quite small, around the 5-10MB mark. Even the most basic broadband service can download this in less than 5 minutes. For most people it will download in seconds.

If you would like to learn more about Silverlight you can visit Microsoft's Silverlight website.
